Our Story

From a shared vision to meaningful impact, here is our journey of service and change.

Society for Health Allied Research and Education INDIA (SHARE INDIA) was established on 6 February 1986 as a not-for-profit society. The organization was promoted by non-resident Indians who wished to contribute to the development of their motherland in the fields of science, health, allied research, and education.

Guided by the vision of our founder, Dr. P. S. Reddy, SHARE INDIA was created to bring together research, education, and service to improve public health and strengthen health systems. From its early years, the organization focused on building bridges between communities, researchers, and health institutions, with the goal of generating evidence and developing practical solutions to address pressing health challenges.

Our flagship initiative is the REACH (Rural Effective Affordable Comprehensive Healthcare) program, launched in 1996 to provide continuous promotive, preventive, and primary healthcare services to rural communities. Through trained community health volunteers, regular household visits, and a health and demographic surveillance system, REACH has demonstrated how community-centered approaches can strengthen healthcare delivery and improve health outcomes. Over time, technology has also been integrated to extend healthcare services to hard-to-reach and underserved populations.

In response to changing health needs and epidemiological transitions, our work has expanded from maternal and child health and infectious diseases to include non-communicable diseases, while incorporating digital workflows and Artificial Intelligence tools. We strive to serve vulnerable populations, including women, children, and the elderly.

Over the years, SHARE INDIA has grown into a trusted nonprofit organization working with government agencies, academic institutions, and international partners. Our work spans community- based health programs, research initiatives, and capacity-building efforts aimed at reducing health inequities and improving access to quality care.

Today, SHARE INDIA continues to build on its founding vision by combining research, partnerships, and community engagement to develop sustainable and scalable solutions that advance health and well-being and contribute to a healthier future for all.
